Sizes: Conversion Table
All number are rounded, usually to the nearest tenth, or greater for larger volumes.
1 gallon = 128 ounces
16 ounces = 480 ml (milliliters)
8 ounces = 240 ml
4 ounces = 120 ml
2 ounces = 60 ml
1 ounce = 30 ml (29.57 ml to be more exact)
15 ml = 1/2 ounce
5 ml = 1/6 ounce
DROPS: Many recipe's & blends use 'drops' for measurment. Since the number of drops depends on the type of dropper top or orifice reducer being used, and will also depend on the thickness/viscocity of a particular oil, these are approximations only:
1 ml: 20-25 drops
1 teaspoon: 75-85 drops 1 dram: 75-85 drops
1 ounce: 450-650 drops
DRAM:
1 fluid dram = 3.7 millilitres
*Our .33 dram bottle = 1.2 milliliters (and is poured to exactly 1 ml using a measuring dropper/vial pipette).
*Our 2 ml size uses a 5/8 dram bottle. 5/8 dram = 2.3 milliliters (and is poured to exactly 2 ml using a measuring dropper/vial pipette), and we often just fill it up to the neck so customers are often receiving 2.2 or 2.3 milliliters.
OTHER: 1 cup = 8 ounces, 2 cups = 1 pint, 4 cups = 1 quart, 4 quarts = 1 gallon, 16 tablespoons = 1 cup, 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon.
All of our bottles are Aromatherapy quality and measuring is done using pouring beakers with measurement. More expensive oils (Neroli, Rose, Jasmine, etc.) that come in smaller sizes are poured using pippettes with precise measurement.
